The 23rd Infantry Division — the legendary Americal Division — stands alone in American military history as the only U.S. Army division formed outside the continental United States during World War II. Activated in May 1942 on the island of New Caledonia in the shadow of Pearl Harbor, three battle-hardened regiments were forged into a single fighting force to defend the Pacific against Japanese advance.
From the jungles of Guadalcanal to the highlands of Vietnam, the Americal Division answered the call — twice. This shirt carries that legacy.
