Collection: Dominican Republic Intervention (1965)

Dominican Republic Intervention (1965)

In April 1965, the United States launched one of its largest Cold War military interventions in the Western Hemisphere — deploying over 22,000 troops to the Dominican Republic in what became known as Operation Power Pack.

The Crisis

A political uprising against the military junta threatened to spiral into civil war. Fearing a second Cuba, President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered U.S. Marines and Army paratroopers to intervene — first to evacuate American citizens, then to stabilize the country and prevent a communist takeover.

The Operation

The 82nd Airborne Division and U.S. Marines led the ground effort, establishing a security corridor in Santo Domingo and working alongside an OAS peacekeeping force. The operation lasted over a year before U.S. forces withdrew in September 1966.

The Soldiers

American service members operated in a complex urban environment, balancing combat readiness with diplomatic restraint. Their professionalism under pressure defined the mission.

Wear the History

MIP Brand's Dominican Republic Intervention collection honors the paratroopers, Marines, and support personnel who answered the call in 1965. Each piece is crafted with premium materials and authentic unit insignia, built for those who carry history forward.
