75th Ranger Regiment - Sua Sponte
The 75th Ranger Regiment is the U.S. Army's premier light infantry unit and special operations force within United States Army Special Operations Command. Headquartered at Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning), Georgia, the Regiment consists of a regimental headquarters, a military intelligence battalion, a special troops battalion, and three Ranger battalions—1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Rangers are a lethal, agile, and flexible force capable of conducting special operations missions including direct action raids, airfield seizures, special reconnaissance, personnel recovery, and sensitive site exploitation. Trained to operate in any environment—desert, jungle, mountain, urban, or arctic—Rangers maintain the highest state of readiness and can deploy anywhere in the world within 18 hours.
Earned, Never Given - RASP and the Tan Beret
Every Ranger must complete the rigorous Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP), an eight-week course designed to assess physical fitness, mental toughness, and the ability to operate under extreme stress. Only those who successfully complete RASP earn the right to wear the tan beret and Ranger scroll of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Many Rangers also complete the U.S. Army Ranger School, a 61-day leadership course that awards the coveted Ranger tab—one of the Army's most respected qualifications. The combination of the Ranger tab and scroll represents the highest standards of tactical proficiency, physical endurance, and leadership excellence.
