Unit History
Over the past few years, I’ve researched and recreated a number of labels for foodstuffs that were existent in the American Civil War. It has recently occurred to me that all of that food had to end up somewhere. That led me to recall the sage advice of an early mentor that one of the most important things a reenactor should have in his possession at an event is a quantity of...“paper”. This train of thought continued with wondering how civil war soldiers would have “concluded their business”, and led to this article.
