The Legacy
In September 1948, the Chief of Naval Operations directed the establishment of Fleet Air Wings, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Redesignated in 1973 as COMPATWINGSLANT and headquartered in Brunswick, Maine, the command was reestablished in Norfolk, Virginia in 1994 — where it stands today as Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Group (COMPATRECONGRU/COMPATRECONGRUPAC). A command built on vigilance, precision, and global reach.
