The history of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry includes the following events:
World War IIThe 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiment was an American Army regiment that was active in the Pacific Theater during World War II. It was constituted in October 1942 and activated the following month. The regiment was disbanded and reorganized in March 1944 into the 2nd Filipino Battalion (Separate)
1946Men who chose to remain in the Philippines or were not eligible to return to the U.S. were transferred to the 2nd Infantry Battalion stationed in Quezon City. When this unit was disbanded later that month, they were assigned to the Filipino Section of the 86th Infantry Division.
1976The 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division was reactivated on March 19, 1976. Its first Commanding General was BGEN RAMON L CANNU AFP.
