1st Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment - Guidon X 300
The 179th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed the "Tomahawks", is a unit of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The regiment's motto is "In omnia paratus", which translates to "Prepared in All Things". The regiment's coat of arms features a tomahawk and peace pipe crossed on a blue shield, which represents the colors of the infantry. The crest of the Oklahoma Army National Guard is also on the coat of arms. The 179th Infantry Regiment's 1st Battalion is the only active battalion in the regiment. The battalion is part of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and is headquartered at FOB Mehter Lam in Afghanistan. The 179th Infantry Regiment was involved in Task Force Tomahawk, which was deployed to the Horn of Africa. The task force's responsibilities included: Providing security at multiple locations across several countries in the Horn of Africa Manning the East African Response Force Conducting Emergency Defense Readiness Exercises in Tanzania, Madagascar, Kenya, and other East African nations
