N Company, part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, was a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) unit during the Vietnam War. Initially, these units were formed within divisions and separate brigades starting in May 1965, but were later formalized in December 1967, and then reorganized as Ranger companies in February 1969. The Ranger scroll, including N Company's, was typically worn above the unit's shoulder sleeve insignia.
