They Flew So Others Could Fight
This 15oz black ceramic mug is a tribute to the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) — the trailblazing civilian women pilots who served the United States during World War II. They tested aircraft, ferried planes across the country, and trained other pilots, freeing male aviators for combat. They flew every aircraft in the Army Air Forces inventory. They did it without military recognition — until history finally caught up with their courage.

About the WASP
The Women Airforce Service Pilots were a civilian organization of U.S. federal civil service employees who flew military aircraft during World War II. More than 1,000 women earned their WASP wings, logging over 60 million miles in service to their country. They flew 78 types of aircraft, including the B-29 Superfortress. Though denied military status during the war, the WASP were finally granted veteran status in 1977 and awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2009 — long overdue recognition for service that changed the course of aviation history.
They didn't wait for permission to serve. This mug honors that spirit.
An ideal gift for WASP history enthusiasts, women veterans, WWII aviation collectors, and supporters of women in military service.
