About the 1st Infantry Division
The oldest continuously serving division in the U.S. Regular Army, the 1st Infantry Division (1ID) has been in continuous service since its organization in 1917. Nicknamed "The Big Red One" after its distinctive shoulder patch, and also known as "The Fighting First" and "The Bloody First", the division is currently based at Fort Riley, Kansas. This cap pays tribute to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment — a storied unit that served with distinction during the Vietnam War.
