Unit History
In the Vietnam War, the Mobile Riverine Force (MRF) — initially designated the Mekong Delta Mobile Afloat Force — was a joint US Army and US Navy force that comprised a substantial part of the brown-water navy. Modeled after French Dinassaut doctrine from the First Indochina War, the MRF was tasked with both transport and combat operations across the Mekong Delta — some of the most contested waterways of the entire conflict.
