Unit History
Operation Just Cause launched December 20, 1989, under President George H. W. Bush. The 3rd Ranger Battalion executed a combat parachute assault on Rio Hato, neutralizing PDF resistance and securing the airfield within hours. The operation concluded January 31, 1990, with the surrender of General Noriega. The Panama Defense Forces were dissolved, and President-elect Guillermo Endara was sworn into office — a mission accomplished by Rangers who led the way.
