HISTORY

  • Elements of the U.S. Army's 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels") played a significant combat role in the 1991 Gulf War, particularly through its 1st "Tiger" Brigade, which provided crucial heavy armor support for the 2nd Marine Division's advance into Kuwait. The division was in the process of inactivation when the war began, but its units were deployed to the Persian Gulf.
