The Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw entered U.S. Army service in 1955 as a medium-lift cargo and troop transport helicopter. Designated the CH-34A, it served across multiple branches — Army, Air Force, and Navy — and became one of the most widely deployed rotary-wing aircraft of its generation. Its distinctive piston-engine profile and reliable performance made it a trusted platform through the late 1950s and into the Vietnam era.
