Unit History
Selected by the U.S. Army in 1955, the CH-34A Choctaw served as the Army’s primary medium-lift cargo and troop transport. Between 1955 and February 1959, 426 Choctaws were delivered to the Army, with additional airframes going to the U.S. Air Force and Navy. Its service record spans Cold War readiness, early Vietnam operations, and humanitarian missions — a true workhorse of American military aviation.
