Unit History: Captain, U.S. Army

The rank of Captain first appeared in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Commissioned by the regimental colonel, a Captain commanded a company of soldiers โ€” typically 60 to 100 men โ€” and was responsible for their training, discipline, and conduct in the field. The two silver bars that mark the rank today are a direct descendant of that original commission, a symbol of leadership earned through merit and trust.

Printed and shipped in the USA. Designed for those who know what the bars mean.
