Unit History
Camp Mackall — formally known as Camp Mackall Military Reservation — is an active U.S. Army installation located in Richmond and Scotland Counties, North Carolina, south of Southern Pines. Established during World War II as a satellite of Fort Bragg, it served as the primary training base for the 11th Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division's glider troops. Today it remains the home of Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) and the Robin Sage unconventional warfare exercise — the final crucible before a soldier earns the Green Beret.
The WWII Service Streamer honors the unit's combat lineage and the soldiers who answered the call across the European and Pacific theaters. Wearing this shirt is a nod to that unbroken chain of service.
