Unit Heritage
Activated in June 1941, the 759th Tank Battalion was equipped with M3 Stuart tanks and deployed to Iceland as part of the Allied garrison force. By mid-1943 they had moved to the United Kingdom, and on D+10 — June 16, 1944 — they landed in Normandy. Fighting alongside the 2nd Infantry Division in the brutal St-Lô campaign, and later attached to the 4th Cavalry Group, the 759th served with distinction through the liberation of Western Europe.
