Unit History
The 756th Tank Battalion — later the 73rd Tank Battalion — served as an independent armored force of the United States Army through World War II and into the early Cold War era. Redesignated as the 73rd Armor Regiment, its lineage is perpetuated today by the 73rd Cavalry Regiment. Their nickname, Thunderbolts, reflects the speed, power, and resolve they brought to every engagement.
