Unit History
The 17th Cavalry Regiment was constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, following the Pancho Villa Expedition. The 5th Squadron served as part of the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Pelham, South Korea — a forward-deployed unit standing watch on the peninsula.
