Unit History – 17th Cavalry Regiment

Constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, the 17th Cavalry Regiment traces its roots to the Pancho Villa Expedition. Reorganized under the U.S. Army Regimental System, the regiment lives on today within Combat Aviation Brigades — its squadrons now flying attack and reconnaissance helicopter missions, carrying forward a century of cavalry tradition.

The 5th Squadron served with distinction at Camp Stanley, Korea, earning the Korea Defense Service Medal (KDSM) — a testament to the vigilance and sacrifice of those who stood watch on the peninsula.

Proudly made for veterans, families, and all who honor the Air Cav legacy.
