UNIT HISTORY
The 17th Cavalry Regiment was constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, following the Pancho Villa Expedition. The regiment served with distinction across multiple eras, with the 5th Squadron carrying the colors of the 2nd Infantry Division — the Indianhead Division — through Korea and beyond.
