Unit History
Constituted 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, the 17th Cavalry Regiment traces its origins to the Pancho Villa Expedition. Reorganized under the U.S. Army Regimental System, its squadrons today serve within Combat Aviation Brigades — carrying the regiment's storied legacy into the modern era.
