Unit history
The 4th Transportation Command traces its World War II lineage to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Port of Embarkation, activated on March 25, 1942, at Fort Lawton, Washington. The unit moved to France on November 7, 1942, as 4th Port Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Transportation Corps. After its World War II service, it was inactivated on December 7, 1945, at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
