Battle History
The Battle of Medina Ridge was fought on 27 February 1991 during the Gulf War, pitting the U.S. 1st Armored Division and the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division against the Iraqi Republican Guard’s 2nd Brigade, Medina Luminous Division, outside Basra, Iraq. Iraq’s Adnan Motorized Division also participated. Medina Ridge — approximately seven miles (11 km) long — became a symbol of Coalition armored supremacy and Desert Storm’s decisive final days.
