442nd Infantry Regiment – Go for Broke

No unit in United States military history has earned more decorations. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team — composed almost entirely of Nisei (second-generation Japanese American) soldiers — fought with extraordinary valor in Italy, southern France, and Germany, proving their loyalty and courage under fire at every turn. While their families were held in internment camps back home, these soldiers chose to answer their country’s call. This long sleeve tee is a daily tribute to their unbreakable spirit and unmatched sacrifice.

Unit History

The 442nd Infantry Regiment, including the 100th Infantry Battalion, is the most decorated unit in U.S. military history. Organized on March 23, 1943, in response to the War Department’s call for volunteers, the regiment drew more than 12,000 Nisei volunteers — 2,686 from Hawaii and 1,500 from mainland internment camps — who assembled at Camp Shelby, Mississippi in April 1943. Beginning in 1944, the 442nd RCT fought across the European Theater — Italy, southern France, and Germany — earning an unparalleled record of valor. Their motto said it all: “Go for Broke.”
