The Black Knights — A Regiment Forged in Combat
The 5th Cavalry Regiment was born from an act of Congress on August 3, 1861 — reorganized from the dragoons and mounted riflemen who had already proven the value of cavalry on the American frontier. Since that day, the regiment has never stood down. The Black Knights have charged through the Indian Wars, stormed the Pacific in World War II, air-assaulted into Vietnam, rolled through the Gulf, and patrolled the streets of Fallujah and the valleys of Kunar Province.
2nd Battalion carries that same fire.
