Ready First - 1st Armored Division
The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division is an Armored Brigade Combat Team of the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX.
In 2008, the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division completed its transformation to a unit of action under the US Army's new modular force structure. It was reactivated at that time at Fort Bliss, Texas, completing a permanent change of station that accompanied the reorganization. The new modular 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division consisted of maneuver units and support units previously held at division level, but organic to the new brigades. It consisted of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment; 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment; 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment; 6th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment; and the 501st Brigade Support Battalion.
Old Ironsides - Armored Excellence
The 1st Armored Division earned its nickname "Old Ironsides" and has served with distinction since its activation in 1940. The division fought in North Africa and Italy during World War II, served in Germany during the Cold War, and has deployed to Iraq and other theaters in support of the Global War on Terror.
