The Choctaw. A Legend of Military Aviation.
From the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East, the Sikorsky CH-34 Choctaw was there. One of the most versatile and storied military helicopters ever built, the H-34 served the armed forces of 25 countries across every continent — flying transport, close-support, and anti-submarine missions with equal distinction. This 15oz Army CH-34 Choctaw Ceramic Mug is a tribute to the crews who flew her and the era of military aviation she defined.
A Machine That Made History
Originally designed by Sikorsky as an anti-submarine warfare aircraft for the U.S. Navy, the H-34 quickly proved its worth far beyond the fleet. Between 1953 and 1970, 2,340 H-34s were manufactured — serving in Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, the Six-Day War, and the Algerian War, where the French Air Force used it to pioneer modern air assault tactics. It was the last piston-engined helicopter operated by the U.S. Marine Corps, earning the nickname "HUS" from the Marines who flew it into combat.
