The Mission
From October 2001 through December 2014, Third Army commanded and coordinated Army forces across the most demanding operating environments on earth — the mountains of eastern Afghanistan, the deserts of the south, and every theater in between. OEF veterans under ARCENT command fought Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, trained Afghan Security Forces, and carried the proud lineage of Patton's Army into America's longest war.
