Unit History
The 2nd Battle Group, 6th Infantry was part of the US Army's Berlin Brigade during the Cold War, a successor to the historical 6th Infantry Regiment. It was formed in 1958 following a reorganization of Berlin units and continued a tradition of vigilance until the battle groups were redesignated as battalions in a subsequent reorganization in the late 1960s. The 6th Infantry Regiment itself has a long history, with the 2nd Battle Group inheriting its lineage through major conflicts like World War I and II.
