The 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment is part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and is stationed at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), Texas. It was redesignated on October 17, 2005, from Troop F, 3rd Brigade's Recon Troop. The squadron has participated in various training exercises and deployments, including a recent Mortar Evaluation Program (MORTEP) in December 2024.
