The 24th Infantry Regiment was a Buffalo Soldier unit that existed from 1869 to 1951, with later reactivation, known for its service on the Western frontier, in the Spanish-American War, World War II, and the Korean War. Although the 24th Infantry was stationed in various locations, its history is directly connected to Fort Sill, where the regiment's legacy helped establish Fort Sill’s military importance. The regiment was the last segregated Buffalo Soldier regiment to be integrated, and its history is a symbol of the evolving role of African Americans in the U.S. military.
