The 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, is a unit with a rich history as an armored reconnaissance squadron. It is descended from the famed "Buffalo Soldiers" of the 9th Cavalry Regiment, which was one of the segregated African-American regiments formed after the Civil War.
