A combat veteran of the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry, within the 25th Infantry Division, served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1971, participating in major campaigns like the Battle of Saigon and Operation Attleboro. This unit, nicknamed the "Bobcats," was part of the "Tropic Lightning" division, known for its extensive combat operations and civil assistance efforts in areas like Cu Chi and War Zone C.
