The 33rd Infantry Division, "The Golden Cross Division", was an Illinois National Guard unit active from 1917 to 1968, known for its service in World War I, including the battles of Hamel, St. Mihiel, and the Meuse-Argonne, and in World War II, where it fought in the Philippines. Its history is perpetuated today by the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
