The 25th Infantry Division, known as "Tropic Lightning," was formed in Hawaii in 1941 and earned its nickname for its superior performance in the Solomon Islands during World War II. The division has a long and decorated history, participating in major conflicts from the Pacific Theater of World War II through the Korean and Vietnam Wars, to modern-day operations in the Pacific. Today, it serves as America's Pacific Division, conducting joint exercises with allies to maintain readiness for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
