The Bell OH-58 Kiowa is a U.S. Army observation and utility helicopter, based on the Bell 206 Jet Ranger, first introduced in 1969 for reconnaissance, targeting, and fire support. It served continuously from 1969 until its withdrawal in 2017, playing a role in conflicts from the Vietnam War to the Iraq War, evolving into the heavily armed Kiowa Warrior variant. The OH-58 was replaced by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other rotorcraft like the Apache.
