Delta Troop (D Troop) was part of the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment (3-17th Air Cavalry), an independent air cavalry unit that served in the Vietnam War from October 1967 to April 1972, providing reconnaissance and reaction force capabilities for corps-level commands like the II Field Force, Vietnam. The modern 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment is still an active Army unit, continuing the lineage and history of its predecessors and operating AH-64 Apache helicopters.
