The 45th Field Artillery Brigade (Oklahoma Army National Guard) originated from the Oklahoma National Guard's artillery units after World War I, with its core tracing back to the 158th Field Artillery Regiment. It's a descendant unit of the famous 45th Infantry Division, known as the "Thunderbirds," serving in World War II and the Korean War. In the 21st century, the unit has been active in Iraq and Afghanistan and is still a key part of the National Guard, providing long-range artillery and coordinating joint fires.
