The 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (2-505th PIR), part of the 82nd Airborne Division, has a long and distinguished history rooted in World War II, where it participated in major campaigns in Sicily, Italy, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and the push into Germany. After the war, the battalion continued its legacy through various deployments, including the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Panama (Operation Just Cause), and the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The battalion's motto is "H-Minus," reflecting its tradition of being the first into the fight.
