The 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment is a component of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment (3CR) (formerly the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, or "Brave Rifles") located at Fort Hood, Texas. The 3rd Cavalry Regiment has a storied history since its origins in the Mexican-American War, earning campaign streamers from the Indian Wars through the Persian Gulf War. In 2011, the 3rd ACR transitioned from an armored cavalry regiment to a Stryker-equipped brigade combat team, and the 2nd Squadron conducts its modern-day missions within this combined-arms structure.
