The 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), is nicknamed "Strike" and is known for its air assault capabilities. The battalion has a history rooted in World War II, including participation in Normandy, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. It later served in Vietnam and during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
