The 25th Scout Dog Platoon was a unit within the 25th Infantry Division, not the 1st Cavalry Division. While the 1st Cavalry Division was heavily involved in Vietnam and used scout dogs, the specific 25th Scout Dog Platoon was part of the 25th Infantry Division. The 1st Cavalry Division's scout dog platoons were part of its airmobile structure and were involved in numerous operations, including the Ia Drang Valley campaign.
