The 24th Evacuation Hospital served in Vietnam, primarily located at Long Binh, from the mid-1960s until the end of the war, treating a significant number of casualties from hostile action and supporting nearby military units. The hospital handled patients from various sources, including U.S. soldiers, Vietnamese civilians, and prisoners, and provided comprehensive medical care through various clinics. Its role included managing vascular injuries in combat, and soldiers and medics documented their experiences, with memories and accounts of life at the hospital available in books and online forums, offering insight into the daily challenges and routines within the combat zone.
