Duty. Honor. The 988th Military Police Company.
The 988th Military Police Company holds a unique and historic place in the United States Army — it was the unit led by Captain Linda Bray during the 1989 United States invasion of Panama, making her the first woman to lead U.S. troops in combat. CPT Bray was awarded the Commendation Medal for Valor for her leadership in the assault against Panamanian Defense Forces — a moment that changed the history of women in the American military.
This 15oz Black Ceramic Mug honors the soldiers of the 988th Military Police Company — the men and women who upheld the law, protected the force, and made history in the process.
Law and Order. Combat Ready. Always.
Military Police soldiers are warriors first and law enforcement professionals always. The 988th MP Company exemplified that dual identity in Panama — executing a combat assault mission with the discipline, courage, and professionalism that defines the United States Army Military Police Corps (USAMPC). This mug is for every soldier who served under that company's colors.

A Unit That Made History
On December 20, 1989, during Operation Just Cause, Captain Linda Bray led the 988th Military Police Company in a direct assault against a Panamanian Defense Forces kennel facility — a mission that placed her and her soldiers in direct combat with enemy forces. The engagement lasted three hours. The 988th prevailed. CPT Bray became the first woman in U.S. history to lead troops in a combat assault, and the 988th became part of that permanent record.
The US Army Military Police Corps conducts law enforcement, force protection, detainee operations, and area security missions across every theater of war. Investigations are conducted by Military Police Investigators under the Provost Marshal General's Office and Special Agents of the Army's Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
"Of the Troops, For the Troops. The 988th Military Police Company — combat ready, history made."
