Grey Lions. Sullivan Barracks. Mannheim. 5-68 Armor.
The callsign says it all to those who earned it. The Grey Lions of 5th Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment were the tankers of the 8th Infantry Division "Pathfinder" stationed at Sullivan Barracks, Mannheim, Germany — part of the armored force that stood between NATO and the Warsaw Pact through the most consequential decades of the Cold War. This premium 15oz black ceramic mug honors the Grey Lions with the 8th ID scroll and the battalion's proud identity.
The Grey Lions Held the Line in Germany.
At Sullivan Barracks in Mannheim, the Grey Lions of 5-68 Armor maintained their tanks, ran their gunnery tables, and stood ready for a fight that never came — because their readiness helped ensure it wouldn't. As part of the 8th Infantry Division's forward defense posture in USAREUR, the Grey Lions were a critical piece of NATO's deterrent force in Central Europe. The callsign carried weight on the radio net and in the motor pool, and it carries weight on this mug.
