Red Knights. The 81st Armor Regiment. Forging the Army’s Tankers.
The 81st Armor Regiment currently fields two active battalions — the 1st and 3rd — both assigned to the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Moore, Georgia (formerly Fort Benning). The 1st Battalion, 81st Armor is assigned to the 194th Armor Brigade, responsible for training enlisted Armor Crewmen and Armor Maintainers for the U.S. Army and U.S. Marines on the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank and the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle — the backbone of American armored warfare.
The 3rd Battalion serves as the Provost battalion for the Maneuver Center of Excellence under the 199th Infantry Brigade, ensuring the standards of the armor branch are upheld at every level.
