Red Lions. The DUI. The Identity.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is more than a crest — it’s the visual identity of a unit’s history, lineage, and purpose, distilled into a single emblem. For the Red Lions of the 2nd Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment, the DUI represents a lineage that runs from the liberation of Luxembourg City in September 1944 through the Hürtgen Forest and into decades of armored service that followed. Every soldier who served under the Red Lions guidon earned the right to wear that crest.

This mug carries the 2nd Battalion, 81st Armor DUI front and center — clean, authoritative, and unmistakable to anyone who knows the regiment. The DUI version for the soldier who wants the insignia to speak without additional graphic elements.

About the Unit

The 81st Armor Regiment’s 2nd Battalion traces its WWII lineage to Company B, 81st Armor, which liberated Luxembourg City on 10 September 1944 and subsequently fought through the Hürtgen Forest before the final push into Germany. The regiment currently has two active battalions — the 1st at the 194th Armor Brigade, Fort Moore, training M1 Abrams and Bradley crews, and the 3rd serving as the Provost battalion for the Maneuver Center of Excellence. The Red Lions of the 2nd Battalion carry the regiment’s combat heritage forward, representing the armor branch tradition of precision, lethality, and forward movement.
