This tee honors the men of the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry (Mechanized), 173rd Airborne Brigade — the legendary "Sky Soldiers" — who served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. The 173rd Airborne Brigade was the first major U.S. Army ground combat unit deployed to Vietnam and served as USAREUR's strategic airborne response force.
